About Me
Alan is Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences at the University of Nottingham and visiting Lecturer at numerous other institutions.
He has 15+ years of teaching postgraduate clinical courses for Altered Haemodynamics and Manual Therapy, Vertebrobasilar Insufficiency, Cervical Arterial Dysfunction (CAD), and Sports Medicine; - all topics related to altered haemodynamics and clinical reasoning.
He has devised and taught over 100 one-day and two-day courses in these areas. Presented as guest speaker at numerous courses and conferences in the UK and Worldwide.
Expert witness in the field of medical negligence related to altered haemodynamics and CAD.
Author of over 30 peer-reviewed articles (primarily CAD / haemodynamics/Sports injury);
5 book chapters (Haemodynamics / CAD / Clinical Reasoning / Manual Therapy).
His primary research is in haemodynamics and sports medicine.
Alan brings 25 + years of clinical practice, specialising in patients with complex head and neck complaints and athletes with peripheral vascular conditions. He also works in Consultancy, assessing a range of top level sports participants for haemodynamic problems.
In a previous life, he was a professional cyclist and Tour of Britain rider. He has also worked with a number of professional and amateur cycling teams. These days, he rides a bicycle mainly for pleasure.
